William Glover (1653 - 1713) was an lawyer and politician who server as governor of the province of North Carolina between 1706 and 1708.
== Biography ==

Retrieved in June 30, 2015, to 02:25 pm.〕 or around 1670,〔(Carolina Governors - William Glover - Carolana ). Retrieved in June 30, 2015, to 02:20 pm.〕 His parents were : Richard Glover and Mary Maria (Broeck) Booker.〔
Glover practiced law for a long time. So when he entered the government, he served as a clerk of court, counsel, secretary, and the Crown. Between 1700 and 1712, he was part of the Executive Council, serving as a member or chairman. However, in the council, Glover won enemies.
Between 1706 and 1707, while Thomas Cary was in South Carolina, Glover ruled North Carolina interim way. In October of that year, John Porter, obeying to Cary, elected new members of the council and governor. So with Glover still governor, Porter called the new councilors and Glover was elected as CEO.
However, in the summer of 1708, Porter called a meeting of councilors, both those who held that job at that time, as those who had exercised before, and declared the election of Glover as illegal. Porter decided to support Cary after Glober accept the Quakers in public institutions (as opposed to its decision in the oath and the decision of the previous governors). So, Cary and Glober tried to occupy governmental power, and in October 1708, they tried to resolve their difference in the assembly. However, supporters of Cary control the assembly, and elected him president. Glover moved to Virginia alleging that Cary wanted to kill him.
Glover was a trustee from 1711-1712 under Governor Edward Hyde, who accepted the position of Governor of Cary. During the mandate of Hyde, taking advantage of continuing tensions among Anglicans (supported by Glover) and dissidents (supported by Cary), Cary cause the "Revolt of Cary" against Glober, but this was apparently not an active participant in the suppression of it.〔(NCpedia: WILLIAM GLOVER ).
